Who runs ReachNow and how listings are checked
Why this exists
When someone you love is in crisis, you should not have to spend two hours on the phone being bounced between voicemails, waitlists, and wrong numbers. The person in crisis certainly can't. ReachNow was built by a parent who did exactly that, so the next family doesn't have to.
The help exists. It is published across dozens of government, nonprofit, and professional directories that have never been joined up. ReachNow joins them, keeps them fresh, and gets you to the right one in a handful of taps.
Who runs it
ReachNow is built and run by Matthew Slade, an independent software developer in Oregon, as a free public resource. It is not a clinical service and is not affiliated with 988, SAMHSA, or any provider it lists. Corrections and questions: hello@reachnow.help.
What we do with your information
- No account, no sign-up, no email address, no advertising.
- Your answers and your location are carried in the page address so the results page can search with them. We don't store them, and we don't use analytics that identify you. Your own browser history may keep the address, as it does for any page; you can clear it.
- Because we hold no health information about you, there is nothing for anyone to breach, subpoena, or sell.
Where the listings come from
Every result shows its source and when we retrieved it. Today that means:
- SAMHSA FindTreatment.gov, the federal locator of licensed mental health and substance use facilities, including psychiatric emergency walk-in, mobile crisis, and inpatient programs, with the payment types each one accepts.
- The NPI Registry (CMS), the national register of every licensed clinician: psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, counselors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and more.
- National crisis and help lines, each checked by a person against the organization's own published page. Last checked September 30, 2026.
More sources are being added: HRSA community health centers, state and county mobile crisis teams, local 988 crisis centers, sliding-fee therapy collectives, and university training clinics. If you run a directory and want it included, write to us.
How listings are checked
- Directory listings are retrieved from their source when you search; the time is shown on each card. A directory fetch is not an availability check.
- Crisis-line numbers are checked by hand against each organization's page, and the date is shown on each card.
- Corrections from clinicians, programs, and families are reviewed by a person before anything changes.

Honest limits
- Directories go stale. A listing can be closed or full before its source updates. If a number is wrong, tell us and we will fix it fast.
- Clinician listings come from a licensing register, which does not say whether someone is accepting patients or which insurance they take. One call answers both.
- ReachNow covers the United States today.
- ReachNow is a directory, not a clinical service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
